I played this for a night or two becaus etenkly told me the entry level guns were fine and still fun. Because he's a god damn liar.

You can get the basic version of any gun for ~3000 which is not much work, especially if you are playing with awesome players like Tenkly and myself.
The basic version of the guns are all competitive, of course you are at a disadvantage but it isn't enough to ruin your ability to compete.

It wasn't a bad game but I HATE getting pwned by a guy just because he has a better rpg score than me.
I actually dislike TF2 for this reason. it was fine before they added the persistent junk. now it is lame.
As an example I was sniping and a shot this other sniper in the head. and did 90 percent of his health as damage. She shot me in the body right after and killed me form full health. now I am sure he had on extra HP gear and a better gun than me, but I don't want to play a game like that. if I am the better fs player for that fight then I should win the fight. Otherwise what's the point of playing FPS?

The other sniper rifles aren't better. L2snipe nubcakes. He could have had the shield that was +25 life on his back, or have been overcharged but the original sniper rifle is the best sniper gun imo. Plus its even less of a moot point since you can get any piece of gear for free.

One of the things I like about the APB system is they don't have weapon mods that increase damage. They have some that increase DPS at the loss off accuracy but no damage per shot increase. Basically all of the mods you get for guns to improve them over the stock weapons help you with things like accuracy and recoil management, which means a really good player can compete with a bad player who has played a long time to get a crutch.
Also, all of the mods have serious penalties to them. For instance I use a mod that gives me improved accuracy and zoom when using the aiming mode but I get decreased accuracy when trying to shoot outside of zooming. I also have a mod that increases my effective range by 7m but it gives my gun worse recoil.
The advantages you get for playing a long time matter but they don't overpower you compared to new players.

I downloaded the game, installed it, made a character, got into the game, walked up to a mailbox.....and got booted by punkbuster. Total time in game...bout 20 seconds. WTF?

I tried it once, it was a very generic game with little to no variety. It could possibly have been fun if half the server wasn't running aimbots.
