Today if people had to kill their own meat almost everyone would be vegetarian, fact! Including you Konehead.

Uhm, then why is it that when people did have to kill their own meat literally no one was a vegetarian?

Do you not stop to think logically even for a microsecond? I'm guessing you can't - not enough meat in your diet.

That semi-philosophical rant was the weakest support for vegetarianism I've read so far.

Rant? lol

And it wasn't really a support for vegetarianism but rather a perspective from an enlightened being.

omfg you are an idiot. People are disconnected from the land and getting their own food which is why we go to supermarkets and pick the food we are disconnected from.

Your brain cell singularity is something to behold dude.. like holy shit! lol

Today people just drone ahead in their daily lives consuming things without much thought at all which is what this swami was trying to point out. People today are as conscious about what they are doing as a conveyor belt is about conveying, they simply drone ahead eating what they want, saying what they want and hurting those they hurt without even a thought about consequences.

People today aren't drones who consume without thinking. Sure, large groups of people do seem that way in average behavior when your split them up into stereotyped groups, but when you break those groups down into individuals, they are all acting on their own thoughts, motivations, and goals.

Unhh.. not everyone killed their own meat. They had hunters who did it.

The modern day hunters are now the people who run farms or slaughterhouses.

Yes this is true but it was a thoughtful act, an act that took planning and a conscious effort. The animals were respected and every part used, nothing wasted. Today it is all for profit and greed and there is zero respect for the animal.

If people had to get thier own food most of them would just starve to death, not become vegetarians.

Modern slaughterhouses waste less of the animals today than any primitive society ever did. Throwing any any part of the animal becomes a cost rather than a profit.

I totally disagree. People think they are acting on their own goals but their goals are the goals of marketing and government schooling that has taught them to live and behave in certain ways. This behavioral modification is deeply rooted and stems from the desire to control the masses and turn free thinking people into worker bees who consume the way they do to keep the economic wheel turning and solidify the status quo..

No, it is more about the economies of scale. Modern agriculture is needed to support the number of people on the planet. The resources just aren't available with the waste introduced by having everyone farm and hunt for themselves.
