The men in poly relationships usually aren't what you imagine. They are husbands 24\7 - have very little time for themselves, huge amounts of responsibility and are part-time diplomats. Tbh, I personally kind of admire the dedication it takes to do that. It's tough work. And not for everyone.
Most of you are confusing polygamy with a harem.

It only works because Mormons believe men are the leaders in the family and women are weaker. I still think it would take quite the man to handle multiple women

That kinda depends on what sect you are looking at.
I wasn't necessarily speaking just about Mormons btw, more about poly relationships in general. And successful\happy ones at that. I wasn't trying to condone the obviously dark side of this, which imo should be called what it is - sexual slavery.

Heh, I have enough of a challenge in relationship with one woman, I can't imagine the challenge of a poly where everyone cared about each other enough to be invested in making it work. But from what I know, that isn't how most socially / religiously derived polys have historically operated. Sexual slavery sounds much more accurate.

It rarely ends well as it's so fraught with challenges. But people do manage it occasionally.
I was just trying to point out the misconception that a real poly relationship - one that functions - is not a harem. It's extremely difficult.

Weaker? Not necessarily. Required by God to submit to their husbands? Yes.
Besides, you guys are talking about the crazy Mormon faiths now. The LDS church hasn't condoned polygamy for a long, long time now, and they're the ones that are gaining in power quickly.
Also as far as Mormons being harmless - I'd say they're better than the average citizen. But the LDS Church can be quite anti-progressive in its goals and is not afraid to push a little bit to see them through.

I think they believed the mark of Cain was their skin color...but I'm not completely clear on that. I just know it took until the 80's for them to allow blacks into the priesthood.
