CNN declared him the winner? Really? They are worse than I remember from the last time I read them, last millennium.
It was debatable who won depending on your preference and positions, as the other three did reasonably well, however Santorum came across as a petty whining vagina.
I was pleased to see Ron Paul get more speaking time. He has some good positions and does well going into uncomfortable territory, but he would benefit greatly by getting a speaking coach. He needs to end his points with ooomph and stop running on like a 76 year old Ford engine.
I was impressed with how Newt handled the personal stuff. I don't think a better job could have been done.

Paul: You know after WW2 the govt didnt do anything and we all did alright.
Newt: What about the GI bill? This is a government program which is a cornerstone piece of social legislation.
[Paul is an automoton. He runs questions through his consistent position algorithm and spits out answers, while potentially inaccurate, he is consistent]
Paul gets to argue: I am factually consistent. Whether he is consistently correct or wrongheaded must be determined on each situation.

Not just the GI Bill...
After WW2 is when the government got into the 30 year mortgage thing to help returning service members buy a house, which is what kicked off the whole housing bubble. Once 30 year mortgages were available for service members, they quickly became the norm for everyone...
