Well, maybe it doesn't demean the game. But it certainly demeans the song and the singers.
Like having the national anthem sung every time you go put gas in your car or something.
Domestic sports leagues have nothing to do with the country. We don't need to wrap them up in the flag and doing so dirties the flag.
I like sports as much as the next guy but there's no reason we have to mix nationalism with it when there's no reason to.
