"Diablo III is supposed to be released in early 2012 but thus far Blizzard has yet to announce a release date. However, in a video to Korean D3 fans, game director Jay Wilson hinted that a date may be revealed soon.

"2012 will be a great year, because the Diablo series will finally make its long awaited return. We are currently working hard to deliver Diablo III to you and ensure that it lives up to your expectations," said Wilson (via Blizzplanet). "We plan to deliver nothing less than an epic gaming experience. The Release Date is nearing, and we eagerly await your return as the heroes of Sanctuary."

I seriously doubt it will be before Summer since they will spend months hyping it up, but at least it will come out in 2012!

They've already spent years hyping it. They could release it tomorrow without telling anyone and it would immediately become the #1 game just from word of mouth over the interweb.

First time you're dealing with Blizzard, isn't it?

I'm playing an Inquisitor in Sacred 2 and having a good time with it!
(partly to hold me over until Diablo 3 is birthed)

Imagine an conservative, extremist, fanatical Catholic crossed with the Devil.
Actually, just imagine a Catholic.

Great fun!
Great evil.

This kind of sounds that it'll be late 2012 at best...

Quote:

If you played the Diablo 3 beta, admired its polish and reckoned the game couldn't be far from release, think again: game director and arch-tinkerer Jay Wilson has unveiled extensive changes to the game's systems, some minor, some major - and promised that even bigger revisions are on the way.
The way character stats and itemisation work is being changed, along with numerous adjustments to the interface, crafting and customisation systems - and "we're working on major changes to the skill and rune systems that we're not ready to talk about," Wilson said. And with that, the chances of the game seeing release in the first half of 2012 all but vanished.

I am really really trying to be excited for Diablo III, the spark just hasn't hit me yet. I just picked up Dungeon Siege for a couple of bucks, so I'm hoping that that game will warm me up a little bit.

Dungeon Siege will likely kill any semblance of spark.

Diablo is the Blizzard game franchise I have never understood the appeal of.

Probably because it is so nakedly shameless in its gear whoring and substitution of clicking through mindless hordes of enemies for compelling gameplay.
