But; SWTOR took it to a different degree you actually care for your character and your companions and your choices will have consequences.

World of Warcraft just took what every MMO has done and made it popular

WoW was the first (major game at least) to have leveling be mostly done via questing rather than just pure grinding. It did have some innovations we now take for granted in the genre..

Strange that one couldn't do quests all the way to max level solo in a game called "Everquest" lol
Can you imagine trying to get to level 50 in pre-TOA DAOC solo? It'd take a year at least.

I managed it..
... then again it did take about a year.

I remember soloing mobs out behind Camp Station with my rejuv cleric. Good god that was awful.
