also, a lot of those findings were probably not ridiculed and actually just didn't get accepted as there wasn't enough evidence to support it.

However skimming trough the list , a lot of it is biology related. I can see why people 100 years ago may not have the tools to support the theory.

But there's a huge difference between scientists not believing they was bacterias in deep cave/mines and aliens using the sun to abduct humans.

Some theories, I would give the benefit of the doubt. It's just that MOST of the one you bring up, are the one that are just full of

Your list is full of inventors, fluff, and people who weren't reviled by the scientific community.

We haven't killed or blacklisted our scientists for being heretics for quite awhile now.

Fail at what?

Most of the ones from that list was just a matter of getting a little bit more information on the subject.

You're comparing small findings to completely absurd notions that has been proven wrong.

The difference between 1870 and 2012 is that our technology helps us understand and test a lot more theories than we could 150 years ago.

This theory to me, is as stupid as the hollow earth theory ( which im sure you believe in )

example 1: Earth being round..

The flat Earth myth was made up in the 1800s to make Columbus seem more awesome. Science knew the Earth was round since the days of the ancient Greeks.

Columbus was actually a crackpot though. But instead of thinking the Earth was round instead of flat, he was going with a crackpot idea about the size of the Earth. He thought the Earth was a lot smaller than accepted wisdom did. Europeans weren't sailing west to Asia because they thought it was too far and the ships couldn't hold enough food and such to make the voyage.

Not at all. Using my awesome powers of scientific methodology, I looked at your list and noted that many of the names were of inventors rather than scientists. So to further test my hypothesis that your list is full of shit, I looked one up.

Doesn't sound like someone who was discredited in his lifetime to me, though if you look in the "Talk" section there is mention of a lord that didn't seem to like him.

People hundreds of years ago thought herm theory or microbiology soundef like alen talk because their spiritual beliefs told them it was demons and evil spirits or jews that caused illness.
And now cori wants to bring back that idiotic spirituality.
