A man was awarded $22 million dollars after he was put in solitary confinement for 2 years:

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/26/10243856-letters-from-solitary-confinement-reveal-dwi-mans-despair

For reference, solitary confinement usually consists of being locked up in your cell 23 hours of the day, with that 1 hour being moved to the "solitary exercise room". No books, no tv, no windows ... just a bed, toilet, 3 meals a day.

If I could have books I would definitely do it.

Without anything at all? I dunno. I'd have to think about it some more.

I would certainly be willing to give it a try.

I think half. No idea if the dude has to pay taxes on his portion.

Sure. I could use the time to sleep and get away from all the crap my friends and family drop on me constantly.

Hell, two years isn't much time at all. I've spent almost that much time living alone and staring at the walls on my own...and had to pay to keep the damn heat and lights on while doing it.

I don't think they put people as old as you into solitary, Ptilk.

Sure they do.

They call it being a "shut in" and they sometimes wait decades for the old geezer to finally give up and croak. Sometimes the geezer fools them though, and creates amazing magical inventions during his confinement.

At least that's what I keep telling myself. C'mon and start working damn spatula of star snuffing and stripper teleporting!

Before I had my kid? Yup. Past history shows I can probably live a rich enough fantasy life that afterwards, I could write a couple books, gaming modules, etc for years based on the ground work I'd have laid in there.

Now that I've had my kid and he's old enough to remember me? Not likely.
