too bad they exclude a large chunk of the unemployed to get to that number. But a house of cards built upon lies will fall under the weight of its deception

Improvements are good.
Biggest reason it dropped that much, though, was 1.2M people left the work force.
Participation rate down to 63%, I think.

Yeah. The top level US 'unemployment' rate is one of the biggest scams ever.
I'm really not sure why we even use it any more. When you tune into most financial networks now, they basically laugh at it.

Govt produces several different unemployment numbers. The broadest one picks up alot of the unemployed but not actively searching.....this measure also shows steady improvement from the depths of 2009 & 2010.
Having multiple measurements gives a better picture of the overall situation. Although it tends to confuse and frustrate the knuckledraggers.

none of which reflect the truth. If we were to count unemployment with the sane formula used in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, it would be 23%.

i give a damn about how unemployment is calculated.
as long as the job growth is good.. then i got some leverage when asking for a raise or finding a new and better job.
sucks for people no longer participating in the job market, but i could care less because i am.
