You haven't been paying much attention to the economy lately, have you?
Grats dude! Are you still in VA?
I'm leery to answer this, but yes, we are still here. It's home. I have no plans to be anywhere else, which is a huge part of why I took the job. My current employer has about a 50% chance of going down in flames this year. We just bought a house - I am in no mood to schlep across the country for work. Or even worse, commute to Nova.
From where I remember you are in VA, that wouldn't be too bad of a commute by VA standards. Absolutely ass by any other standards... I had a teacher who commuted from WVA to my school in NOVA. I thought he was a bit insane. He was a good teacher though, so maybe we all have our quirks.
The one thing I love about getting out of NOVA and into NYC is I don't have to drive. Ever. (well, sometimes I take Grandpa out with his car, but that's like 10 blocks there and back). All my New York buddies think I'm crazy for not wanting to drive, but after growing up in that traffic, I just have no desire to get behind the wheel. The funny thing is, I'm pretty Zen when it comes to traffic too. Most of my friends still rage if they hit a slowdown and I just figure, it is what it is.

I don't typo often, but when I do, I blame Swype.
