I'm leery to answer this, but yes, we are still here. It's home. I have no plans to be anywhere else, which is a huge part of why I took the job. My current employer has about a 50% chance of going down in flames this year. We just bought a house - I am in no mood to schlep across the country for work. Or even worse, commute to Nova.

It's an arbitrary process that has no legal backing. Technically, yes. But there's no guarantee my Department head wouldn't cancel it just to spite me. They are going to be very pissed - my departure is going to hurt....my involvement in the next 9 months was essential to their success.
Perhaps they shouldn't have denied me that promotion 
The new place is pretty laid back on start dates, so now all I have to do is keep my mouth shut and wait a few weeks.

Mos t people would let their performance slide in your position. You should try working harder and saying only positive things about the company and your bosses while working harder right up until you give your notice
Then thank them for all the opportunities they gave you, all of those promotions look good on your resume
