Grymlo I think the entire question hinges how we were all raised. Not just by our families I mean the environment we grew up on was flooded with junk food ads. Children have been the targets of a billion dollar industry's advertizing department. Brainwashed. So smart doesn't really protect people from bad eating habits until they get taught why they are so willing to eat salted chips and drink Dr.pepper.

I think they should be allowed to buy sweets. When i was a kid and my mom would pack my lunch, shed always give me a desert..like a few cookies or something.

So i see nothing wrong with sweet or oily foods in moderation.

Not many people have the motivation to change their eating habits even when they are sent a clear message of a health diagnosis and that they need to change..

People are stubborn and dumb.

Go into any grocery store on the 2nd day of the month and look at what aisles are empty in the morning.

The soda, chips, and snack aisles will be decimated.

In the soda business I know we plan ahead in our output at the plant as well as our account managers when ordering in enough product for the shelves.

People are generally ignorant

People are in denial

People don't effect change in their lives unless it is threatened, even then they are in denial.

People are happier taking pharmaceutical drugs than to effect change in their lives

There is a pretty strong demographical correlation between users of food stamps and high cost consumers of preventable medical conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. Since Americans are picking up the tab on both ends, I'd be completely in favor of more stringent rules about food stamp usage.

Just eliminate all mixed foods. Instead you can only buy raw ingredients. Flour, Oats, Rice, Milk, Eggs, etc. Fresh or Frozen veggies and fruit.

Throw in a bread maker and a crockpot when you first qualify.
