Faith. Yes that is at the core of all of your economics.
We get our pills paid for via insurance. There is no rider for it though. We're over paying since we have to cover the cost of the insurance company overhead and profit. If we bought the pills directly we wouldn't have to cover that cost.
Explain again how that cost is magically negative thanks to Obama. Does he use fairy dust or a magic wand?

Actually, my last post was in error. There will be no charge for the birth control rider. So, we'd have to look behind the scenes to decide whether overall costs to consumers would be higher or lower.
Insurance companies, under Obamacare, must use at least 85% of premiums for actual medical costs. So, that leaves 15% for administrative costs and profits. As it turns out, the savings for health insurance companies by offering birth control as opposed to not offering it, is in the 15-17% range. So, a wash there. The big question then becomes...can the insurance companies make a better deal on the cost of birth control than individual consumers can? I say they can. At worst, I don't see them paying MORE for birth control than individual consumers. So, worst case scenario is that consumers break even on cost.
As to the original question. It's covered because insurance companies can make a profit on it and because a large majority of women want it to be covered. Your free market at work.

Only misogynists or mystics support the concept of keeping birth control a seperate issue and not subject to all the rules that govern any other health issue.
Why? Because they hate women and want to punish them for living because their god told them it was ok to do so....
