I said what I said, nothing more and nothing less. Feel free to resort to hyperbole if you must. But you are changing your tune. First, you said "the world made you make the choices you've made". Now, you temper that sentiment a bit, saying instead, "things happen...what wore her towards a place in life...". Your previous statement and newest statement are considerably different. Which is it? Did the world make her make the choices she made? Or did it wear her towards a place where self-medication was a relief? Again, those ideas are not equal to one another. But I do agree with you that she found herself in a place where drugs were a relief, an escape. I am very sure she had her reasons for the choices she made. Not excuses, but reasons. An abusive cunt of a man. The suffocating pressure that in inherent with a career like hers. All of it. I can hardly imagine. But Illmyrin, I'll say it again: Somewhere out there is a person who has been through a hell that was worse but chose to deal with it in a more positive manner. There are many stories out there in which this is the case, and they are truly stories of human greatness. Choice is a powerful word. Your words suggest that you tend perceive yourself as having an external locus of control. A perception that attaches control of personal choices to external forces that are beyond our control. I choose not to think about myself or the world in this way. I do not easily detach myself from my choices, nor do I easily release others from responsibility for their choices. This doesn't mean I am without compassion, empathy or sympathy, be it for Whitney Houston or anyone else.
