Chomsky doesn't hate America, but he is an extremely outspoken critic of America's foreign policy, sense of exceptionalism, and failure to live up to its own promises of freedom and equality. That makes him patriotic in my book, the moreso because everything he says will be batted back by flag waving jeeebus loving conservabots as anti American.

Well if you have the viewpoint that the dictatorship in South Vietnam was illegitimately supported by the United States over the will of the South Vietnamese people (who overwhelmingly supported Ho Chi Minh in the 50s), then you can spin it that way. As I said, he can overstate his case.

Ho Chi Minh asked for American support even asked for support in modeling his country's constitution after America's.
We told him to take a hike so Russia supported him as well as China.
