There's nothing frightening about their name. I've posted numerous articles from their websites over the years. They encompass everything from strict Islamic fundamentalism to the more forward thinking Hashemites and have had representative sects physically battle over control of power in some regions. It is more of a council of sects than anything else, depending on which area of the ME you are examining. They have been wrongfully attributed with toppling governments and fostering instability in the ME but I don't think that's true at all. Described at one time as a shadowy power-grabbing warring fundamentalist group they now have a Facebook page if you're interested. They are not a new group, they've been around for decades.

IIRC the brotherhood has been around since the 20s.
