The guy was clearly going kinda nutso. Doesn't mean it's ok to shoot him, but I don't think it's ridiculous they might think he had a weapon in the car and was going to retrieve it.

He was all ready in the car and starting to drive away. Coward cop doesn't like his lawful orders not being followed and shot him from behind. Clearly a greater tragedy has been averted here!!!

Seems like American police can only ever solve a dispute by using either a tazer or a gun. At least that's the totally unbiased impression I have after getting 90% of my infos regarding America from the Outpost.

So he somehow managed to avoid shooting two kids in the truck AND got his target while moving and obstructed by the truck, seat and back window?
Say what you will about the morality, but that cop should definitely have his Marksman badge for life.

CA law also says that the name of the deputy must be released to the public, apparently OCSD is ABOVE the law.

The union's account of the encounter mentions that, before the shooting, "[a]dditional Sheriff's personnel arrived and comforted the children in the back seat," something not previously reported. The union's version of the story also says Mr. Loggins put the Yukon in gear. "As the Yukon began to move forward he was shot by the deputy next to the driver's window."
