Its rather disturbing to see how the various media outfits are really becoming extensions of the political parties. We see this in Canada, where the CBC shills for the Liberals, and the so-called "Sun-TV" now shills for the Tories. The only major network here that seems decent is CTV

Propoganda is more interesting when it is combined with a healthy dose of agitation and Fox News knows this and other networks are trying to catch on. Fox News is still better at agitprop than the other networks.
This place wouldn't be as fun without any mud slinging and cable news is no different. The impact this has on political discourse is not great but in a demand based economy people get what they want.

Other networks have become far more blatant and purposeful lately and are trying to use the Fox formula but for liberals.
They are still not very good at it IMO. You may not like Fox News for popularizing agitprop but they are good at it.

The other networks do not put the other side on as often as Fox. Fox News is successful for two reasons, it's the closest thing to a conservative network and two there is always conflict on their talk shows. MSNBC and CNN is mostly circle jerks between the anchor and the interviewee.

The traditional media are used to their own brand of agit prop, aimed at urban liberal types. It was genteel, sophisticated but it was still agitprop and those who stood outside that belief system could see it for what it was. Shit in a silk stocking is still shit. However, they left a large void and plugged their ears and pretended this void did not exist.
Fox news is successful because they filled this void. They filled it with garbage, but garbage fills a void just as well as gold does. The only difference between Fox and CNN is that fox is less subtle and more blatant about their bias.
