Hey don't knock on boat rides, "Das Boot" is one of the most awesome flicks ever and it's over 3 HOURS of essentially just boat riding (and angst, sweating, death and misery, but I digress).
I love Das Boot! But the boat ride in Valhalla Rising is one fixed-camera shot that lasts for half an hour. I can't remember if anyone even talks during it. Not many people are going to have the patience to make it through that and into the insanity that comes after.
