Hey, I'm just quoting a big Republican strategist. If you disagree, take it up with his estate.

Groucho types his outrage against repub racial snips said last millennium, but goes deaf mute on Dem racial snips said last week.
Well done. Go directly to Scarne's thread about sheeple. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

I wonder why blacks vote for EITHER party.

Dis'd and demonized by one. Patronized and strung along by the other.

Working class whites began to leave the Democratic party - against their own economic interests - at just the same time the Democratic party started becoming the friendlier party towards minorities.

Make of that what you will.

There was a big editorial in the WSJ today about Republicans using social issues to win Presidential elections and how important social issues are to them as a national party.

It is interesting to see the gay issue work out because traditional Democratic groups are likely to hold onto the gay issue the longest.

Of course it is.

They're no longer fiscally conservative / responsible / sane. It's not a differentiator with the Dems, who are just as spendthrift.

All they have left, aside from Tea Party deviants, is the social crazy differentiator.

Actually the point is that they couldn't sell their economic position without it. That in Presidential election fiscal conservatism doesn't work but social conservatism does.

There seems to be two possible conclusions:

1) there is a sharp difference in the two parties, for evidence see the dramatic voting differences for black voters

2) there is no difference in the two parties, black people not smart enough to figure that out...but random right winger on the interweb sees it!

No. The point is exactly what I said. Politics these days is sound bytes and marketing. Differentiation strategy.

There's no real difference up under D's and R's any more where one can claim to be 'fiscally conservative and responsible', any more. It has ceased to be a point of differentiation.

They must instead run to the morality crazy.

It's pretty straight-forward.

African Americans are much happier with being patronized than with being demonized and dis'd. WOW, what an AWESOME choice, America has given them.
