The actual process to get a handgun license in DC is still so onerous that it is essentially a gun ban still.

So, there ya go...

Criminals are always willing to deal with bureaucracy to get weapons?

It was in response to the "Supreme Court struck down the ban" comment previously.

The Supreme Court overturned the DC Gun Ban three years ago.

Pretty epic self-pwn

Only in your home, and the process to get one is ridiculous.

DC news-writer has been documenting the process.

You don't need a license to own a handgun in DC.

You do need to register the weapon however. I read through the process, it's about as painful as registering a car in DC.

Dc's local government is horrifyingly inept at pretty much everything. But they are neutered federal bitches for the most part, so it's not a shock.

The point is they have them and they are handled as well as everything else the City does. Expecting DC to be a bastion of self-governance just because they can own them now is a painfully stupid position.
