Maybe they are planning on making all their upkeep money from regular expansions? Or are they gonna have an in-game store that sells advantages like a f2p model?
This is how they did it in the first one.
The game shop had costumes, seasonal hats, extra character slots, item storage space, etc. Plus the 4 expansions.

I won't mind paying extra for cash shop stuff on a game like this. As long as there isn't anything like if you don't pay $10 for these boots you're going to suck. From all the interviews and things I've seen about the game the devs actually get it. They're making a game for the gamers and something that they themselves as gamers want to see. They didn't make something using X and Y formulas to milk the most money. If it's a niche game I'm fine with that. Daoc was a niche game and was the best 6-7 years I've ever spent with a mmo

Until they come up with an Online Douchebag Vaccine, I don't want to play a MMO where I have to group up just to progress.
I'm married, I have a kid, I play odd hours, and I don't want to HAVE to sit for a three hour period to play with a group, where I can't stop what I'm doing to walk with my kid or take a break and chat with my wife.
I want to be able to log onto GW2, play for an hour, and log off. I'm not sure this game will allow me to do that.

Yes it will. You can use AI chars to play with you if you don't want to group up.
Every class can be picked. so if you have a dungeon or something that needs 5 you choose 4 NPCS to do it with you ( you pick the class)
it was like that in GW1 as well..
people need to research a bit more.. GW was awesome, GW 2 will be too

That could facilitate their business plan. DDO offers one hour rentals on npcs by class.

Sure it will. Why wouldn't it? The whole point of the design seems to be aimed at making getting into and out of group situations pretty much seamless. You might be soloing and then just randomly run into a group encounter with some other players, do that for a while, then go back to soloing. The idea is not that you'll be sitting around in town shouting "LF tank for ice wurm dynamic encounter."
edit: P.S. Tinkles is wrong. IIRC the GW2 hero system like GW1 had was scrapped a while ago. It might make an appearance someday but not at release.

Are you sure?
I could be wrong but I read somewhere at one point that it was gonna be in the game. Could be wrong though...

Actually now that I think about it they did say you can kill other people's shit and the XP doesn't get split.
So soloing is very possible and like Yuki said you can kill shit, then group up randomly ( it groups you up automatically with people around you during events) then go back to soloing
ALSO this game IS NOT like the others, you dont need to group to do everything. You can solo mobs 5-6-7 level higher than you if you have the skills for it ( dodging attacks, timing yours, ect ect)
