A more accurate analogy would be that everyone runs the first race barefoot and there are no rules, just cross the finish line. The winner of that race gets to be the only one wearing shoes for the next race, and he gets to pass those shoes onto his children to run in. Until one day it is a small group of people in Ferrari's racing against a bunch of people running barefoot, and the guy in the Ferrari is crying crocodile tears that the maintenance on his car is just too darn expensive and should be reduced. Revenue can be made up by charging more for band-aids for the rest of our feet.

Total fail because your premise is not true. The "rich" fall to the middle class or even lower all the time. At the same time the "poor" rise to middle class or better. Liberals love taking a snapshot; lumping the old, young, hardworking and lazy into one chart and yelling, "see!"
