I don't want to spoil your fun with facts but Obama has made more land available for oil drilling that was previously off limits than has any other US president in history..

That would be more helpful if it was land where anyone wanted to drill for oil.

Most of it isn't.

Oil drilling in the US is up and gas prices are up.

Incorrect.

See expansion of Bakken fields, and the tentative new approval just a few days ago for Shell drilling off the coast of Alaska, despite environmental group opposition.

Entire towns are being erected for new drilling.

How about that hopey changey thing working out for you? You like the $4 a gallon gasoline? Thank Obama

One of the first actions the Obama team took when it assumed office in was to direct Secretary of the Interior Salazar to cancel 77 shale oil and gas leases in Utah. The next year they canceled 61 onshore leases in Montana. TheGreen River shale formation in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado, has an estimated 800 billion barrels of oil, which is three times the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia

Peaked with Jimmy Cater as as he shut production down it’s been going down ever since. So isn’t the real question why does the USA give hundreds of billions of dollars to Saudi Arabia each year?

I said "most of it isn't."

I was already aware that there are a few new spots that are being used. Ineenia made the point that Obama had opened up more land than any other President in history. Obama did that specifically because he knew people were too ignorant to realize that most locations with oil can't be profitably worked at present. He gets to claim credit for opening up lots of new land while still blocking most of the places the oil companies want to drill.

Refineries increase their capacities all the time. If oil companies got permits to build new refineries there would not be an explosion of new building like some people expect.

Total refinery capacity is already in the sweet spot from a business perspective.

Obama against drilling for oil

Is that why more drilling permits and refinery permits have been approved in the last 4 years than the previous 12 years combined?
