what do i need to know about it?

i found the two breweries. one of them looks awesome and the other so-so.

my little sister and her husband are moving there.

looks like just a regular town thats of decent size with a couple brew pubs and a shit ton of golf courses.
its not even really near the ocean

yer right. looks like its not more than a couple hours.
definitely worth checking out if i ever visit.


its also not more than a couple hours from DC.

definitely might be worth a weeks vacation time to go check it out

I spent a lot of time in Roanoke in my college days, but that was longer ago than I care to admit...

you'll want to check out the Grandin Theatre - awesome movie theater.

for coffee - mill mountain coffee & tea: http://www.millmountaincoffee.com/

city market to get some of the best produce & meats from the region: http://www.downtownroanoke.org/city-market

for indian food, Nawab: http://www.nawabrestaurant.com/

for sandwiches and awesome sunday morning drink specials (if they still do it, we used to call it going to church) Macados: http://www.macados.net/

i'm sure there's a lot more there now, but those should be some great places to start.
