Everyone hates the big guy on the block. It's that simple. Look at sports for your examples.

Everyone hates the big guy on the block. It's that simple. Look at sports for your examples.
Then a LOT of hate should be directed at Alaska and Texas since they're bigger than California.

Its because California is like a black hole sucking resources from nearby states and its a supposedly the culture center of America. I liked it better when NYC was the cultural center of America.
Also California is all about image over substance and its full of hypocrites especially the people in Hollywood.

Illinois was the next most hated.
I kinda like Chicago.
Then we have New Jersey, Mississippi, and Utah.
