I dread shaving outside the shower - its too painful. I only shave in the shower with soap.

shaving oil is something for you.. Much better then soap apply on damp skin.
I might even get one of those mirrors

I recommend a pre-shaving cleaner
a shaving oil instead of shaving cream
and a shaving balm afterwards, no after shave.. alcohol dries the skin.
