I dont think you have one candidate worth a damn in the entire Republican party. Just scrap the whole thing ideologically and start again. Agree on the sheet as your uniform and work from there.

That's a pretty broad and baseless assumption to make.

A moderate republican is someone like George Bush I who raised taxes when he needed to and was cautious in Iraq.

Him being cautious in Iraq was precisely why we had to go back a second time. Had Sr deposed Saddam the first time as he should have, it would have saved some headache.

Well of the Dems at least Zig and Groucho answered somewhat honestly. Kudos for that.

(Moe isn't a Dem. Yuki and IMHO just took pot shots).

Modeeb... weren't you looking for SOME alternative to Obama awhile back? There's nobody in the R ranks you can stomach, knowing Obama isn't going to be displaced from within his party? Even Congressmen?

I was totally honest with my answer.

Can't think of anyone around today. Republicans have pretty much gotten rid of all the moderate ones. Bloomberg had possibilities.

Back in the day...the first Bush, Nelson Rockefeller, George Romney, Eisenhower, perhaps Gerald Ford. Heck, maybe Nixon if he hadn't been a paranoid hate monger. He had some pretty decent ideas.

This. I think us older folks got kicked from the party when they picked Rayguns. Daddy Bush was their last gasp. Now they have to pander to the base because as you said they drove off any moderates.

@IMHO -- there are some republicans who haven't signed the 'no tax increase' pledge. There are others who have specifically proposed plans that balance tax increases with spending cuts (Alan Simpson, for instance) that is aligned with what many Dems have proposed, or co-authored.

So your answer based purely on economic policy/middle-class tax burden is a ham-handed stab... at best.

Huntsman didn't seem terrible, not that he got enough play for me to learn much about him.

I'm not a democrat though, just a liberal.
