It will be that way in the US eventually.

Currently, you can be held in contempt of court for refusing to turn over the password on your HDD.

can't you just claim that you don't want to incriminate yourself?

Even more dumb is that you can get max 5 years in prison for refusing to give the key...
and all supposed main targets of such law (terrorists, pedophiles, drug dealers and
similar that government use to sway public opinion) would all probably get more harsh
sentences...so whats the point?

I wonder if one can set up a HDD encryption to a certain password but when another password is put in it directly starts this program.

We use an encryption software at work for laptop users that we can configure to delete files, or lock out users etc.. based on customizable rules for failed login attempts or if the device loses contact with the server after a certain amount of days.

Or you could just not store illegal stuff on your computer and it shouldn't really be an issue.
