Case in point IMHO. The same problem existed when Jesus himself walked this earth, people still could not understand and didnt want to believe. The two are always at odds as it must be, it was before Jesus walked this earth, while he was here and is still here long after he raised from the dead.

I think Genesis is a pretty good explanation considering how long it has been around. It still fits into what science says had happened.
Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 don't even agree on the order of things.
Science does not agree with either order.
Of course, Genesis 1 and 2 are different (regional) versions of the same story intertwined. Good stories don't have to be factual to be meaningful and the folks who redacted the Torah were hip to that.
