Should have been out of that shithole 7 years ago. You keep people in a war zone for half their lives and some of them are going to crack.

It's over, done, let the Afghan people deal with their horrible country. They DID assist the bastards that attacked us, screw em.

Pretty much this.

I've been telling you guys for 2 full years we were losing. We lost in fall 2009 when they scrap the old plan.

We had a great plan for Afghanistan before Obama took office? That's pretty funny!

U.S. soldier held after firing on Afghans, killing at least 16, officials say

The attack marked perhaps the grisliest act by a U.S. soldier in the decade-long Afghan war and seemed all but certain to stoke anti-American anger in a crucial battleground as foreign troops start to thin out in the south. Afghan officials said women and children were among those killed in the Panjwai district of Kandahar province, the birthplace of the Taliban movement.

Coming as Afghan rage over last month’s burning of Korans by U.S. soldiers was beginning to taper off, the killings threatened to spark a new crisis in the strained relationship between Washington and Kabul. The two nations are in the midst of contentious negotiations over an agreement that could extend the presence of U.S. troops in the country beyond 2014.

Still sparks the question...how can lone soldier leave guarded military compound, in full gear and armed to teeth without anyone asking a question?

Afghanistan is by default a loosing proposition...

However, the whole - focus on Iraq thing never helped. The Afghan plan needed to be changed up - Just like Iraq was a disaster until Petraeus came in and said this is how it's gonna go down. Once we started focusing more on Afghanistan we had to change up the plan. I think the 'new' strategy would have worked a bit better if that's what we did when we first went in, but not so much as a 'plan b'. It's just never a good thing having troops in another country actively engaging 'the enemy' for a decade and not having a 'plan'.

Be all that as it may, We've been there, we made out point, we've killed OBL, pretty much killed all of the Taliban leaders that initially supported OBL and Al Queada... Eff em - let them have their shit, let Pakistan do whatever they effing want and when they start up more real shit like 9/11, go eff em up some more...

According to CNN, it wasn't unknown that he went missing. They were out looking for him, probably around the time he was offing people and then he just walked back to the base and was arrested.
