I have no rational or logical reason why i won't switch to an Ereader, but i'll resist it as long as i can.
I just like having the phyiscal book, and collecting them on the shelf. There is value to them that i don't see in a data file.
Indeed.

I love books as physical objects, but when it comes to "reading" I prefer to read audio books.
I read about a thousand pages a week for work (and that's down considerably from other times during my career).
My eyes are tired when it comes to free time - it is much more satisfying to me - and easier on my eyes - to put on a pair of headphones and listen to a book.

I haven't bought a physical book since I bought my Kindle last year. I love it and would never give it up.

I was hesitant to get the ereader at first but I very quickly decided I would never buy another paperback book so long as I live.
I always obsessively kept my physical books in perfect condition and that was really sort of a pain in the ass. Holding the book half open, not touching the edges of the pages, etc. The reader is infinitely more convenient to hold and read from.
I was also running out of room to put books. I like collecting things more than the average person but this experience has taught me that I value practicality over sentimentality.

I hear ya Yoss. I keep a couple barrister book shelves of reference books I have collected over the years. However, i give away boxes of books at a time. I will adapt soo I guess. As long as I can annotate in my ereader I should be fine.

Yeah, I know. But eventually, you will all succumb to an e-reader.
I passionately loved books in the past as well. Next to my desk at home I have about five hundred books stakced neatly in two bookshelves. I have another bookshelf in the living room with all my important fantasy. In my closet I have an enormous box of books I couldn't bear to throw out.
My wife is a reader and when we lived in Spain we had an entire eight foot wide, ten foot high wall covered floor to ceiling with books.
And now I have three hundred on my iPhone/iPad.
I have an entire library at my fingertips that takes up less than the space of one book. And if I want more, I can read reviews, know I'm not buying crap, and download it in under ten seconds.
I can't even read regular books now. The pages frustrate me, as does their weight on my chest.
Bookstores will soon go the way of the eight track tape.
The only people who disagree, don't have an e-reader yet.
But they will soon see the light.
And now when you like a book you can no longer hand it to a friend when you are done. They are free, however, to spend $12.99 to get it for themselves.

Yes Jaedence! Put all your important stuff in a little magic box. And one day, when all the books have been burned for warmth or used as ass paper I hope you've got your batteries, remember your password or even have permission for your treasures. I hope your library doesn't red flag you as a threat to the state.
