Not according to this article.

"A statistical analysis of 36 years of monthly, inflation-adjusted gasoline prices and U.S. domestic oil production by The Associated Press shows no statistical correlation between how much oil comes out of U.S. wells and the price at the pump.

If more domestic oil drilling worked as politicians say, you'd now be paying about $2 a gallon for gasoline. Instead, you're paying the highest prices ever for March.

Political rhetoric about the blame over gas prices and the power to change them _ whether Republican claims now or Democrats' charges four years ago _ is not supported by cold, hard figures. And that's especially true about oil drilling in the U.S. More oil production in the United States does not mean consistently lower prices at the pump."

"The calculations "help make the point that U.S. production and demand have little to do with the price of gasoline in the U.S., and lend support to the notion that there is not a great deal we in the U.S., acting alone, can do to affect the price of gasoline," Peterson wrote in an email. He pointed out that Energy Department figures show that gas prices in the U.S. seem to rise and fall similarly to gas prices in Europe, showing that it has little to do with American drilling.

And that's the key. It's a world market, economists say."

Shameless… Dems Urge Saudi Arabia to Pump More Oil But Won’t Allow Production Here in US

Now democrats want Saudi Arabia to drill more – not US companies.

Sen. Charles Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) call for increased Saudi Arabian oil production to help ease prices

so only Muslim oil will lower the gas price ?

DEMOCRATS DEMAND SAUDI ARABIA PUMP MORE OIL BUT WILL NOT LIFT DRILLING BAN IN AMERICA

Democrat enviromarxists moaning that Saudi Arabia will not pump more oil!!! This is a definite media bias. Democrats have blocked lifting the ban on drilling for oil, natural gas, refineries, or alternative energy sources, in America for 30 years.

The Democrat enviromarxist say that we cannot drill our way out of this. Does anyone remember that the Democrat enviromarxists blocked the Alaskan pipeline for three years before they were forced by voters to approve it?

In the seventies the Democrat enviromarxists said that this could not be done. And if it could the time it would take to build this would be too long to provide any relief. Sound like todays arguments from the MSM Democrat enviromarxists. It is the same arguments because all the Democrat enviromarxists have is the 1960's & 70's play book, nothing new. They have sued companies and states for decades, so much that they have blocked progress for decades.

The Democrat enviromarxists Presidential candidate Barack Obama has a plan. Tax the oil companies profits and tell them what kind of energy to sell. The extra 25% tax on oil company profits will only be passed on to the consumer. Former Pres. Jimmy Carter tried this approach in the 70?s, it failed creating higher prices.

The oil company profits are 8.5c/gallon and the Federal gas tax is 18.5c/gallon. So it is the US Government that is making windfall profits and telling the citizens it is the oil companies gouging us. The States get in on this with another 5-9% more per gallon in state and city taxes which adds at least another 20c/gallon

The Democrat enviromarxists want corn to be made into a fuel. That has worked so well that the price of corn has tripled and everything has gone up at least 20%-50%. Food riots have broke out across the world because the poor cannot afford the vast increases. This has happened because we took a FOOD product and mandated an energy source be made out of it and 15% of our gas supply replaced with it. The ripple effect is huge. Corn is being planted in place of other products like wheat and soy beans around the world causing the shortages in and a huge rise in cost of these products.

The Democrat enviromarxists will pay for this blunder in Novembers election. The American people get it, 67% say drill now! They Democrats say no they will filibuster any attempt to lift the bans in place for 30 years.

Not even a perfect currency situation will put more oil back in the ground.

The downside of this energy source being used up will not be pretty... Piss on your dollar weakening.

I filled up one of my tanks at $3.79 this morning. I went out for lunch and saw it at $3.83 at the same station. People are getting annoyed.

Who do you think they will take that out on?

Our currency is no less sound than it was when gas was last at $2.

Maybe they're adding gold to the gas now.

Canada shipping oil to the pacific coast, loading it on ships, and sailing that oil to china = good for the environment.
