when did apple start making chips again?
last i heard they were using intell chips in their stuff

It's Apple's chip still, they are designer/owner. They just pay Samsung to make it.

so all those years when toyota was paying GM for the rights to make GMs cars and relabel them as toyotas
were they toyotas or GMs?

Samsung is not selling the chips to the consumer, and not allowed to put the chips or even the technology into other phones (there's lawsuits about that already).
