Not sure about retail but last time I checked it was like $450 per bag to get one reinstalled if you get into an accident and the bag deploys.
Seems like a good example of a regulation that needs to go away.

Cause the airbags buffer damage that the seatbelts dont?
Don't tell me people are so dumb they think they can skip seatbelts cause they have airbags in the car.

1) lots of idiots don't wear seatbelts no matter what the law says.
2) airbags help even if you're wearing a seatbelt.

I will concede that there is probably some nonzero % of people who might be saved by an airbag while not wearing a seatbelt, but do we know what that percentage is? Is it significant?

Unless it's some 10 mph collision or something.

Seems like the side airbags would be more beneficial than front airbags and ironically those are not mandated.
