A one-on-one fight without weapons does not constitute a threat of grave bodily harm or death. A black eye and a fat lip maybe, but not enough to warrant responding with deadly force.

Exactly. I'm a huge proponent of self-defense, but I don't think it applies in this case.
You can't shoot someone because you are losing a fist-fight with them, especially if you were the one who initiated the fight.

You can't shoot someone because you are losing a fist-fight with them, especially if you were the one who initiated the fight.
If you think you're in grave bodily harm then yes, you can shoot the person putting you in grave bodily harm.
If someone is on top of you punching you in the face repeatedly you are in grave bodily harm.
Zimmerman could stand there all day and scream racist things at Martin. It's stupid but not illegal. If Martin jumped him from behind and started beating him then BOOM! HEAD SHOT!!!

If Martin had felt threatened by Zimmerman, under the Florida law, doesn't he have the right to use up to deadly force to deal with the situation?
That's assuming that your completely unfounded speculation of Martin attacking a retreating Zimmerman is true. I could speculate that Zimmerman drew his gun and told Martin to say a prayer and Martin charged him. Both scenarios are unlikely but possible and neither can be disproved from the evidence we have.
Kid is walking home from the store with a snack. A guy in a car starts following him. The kid starts to cut through an alley. His girl friend, on the phone, tells him to run but he says he's just going to walk real fast. The guy gets out of the car and follows him. Witnesses hear a struggle and one person screaming. Some think it is Martin screaming, some think it is Zimmerman. One guy, towards the end of the fight, possibly sees Martin on top. (He sees the person on top wearing a white T-Shirt. Martin was wearing a dark gray hoodie.)
That calls for a thorough investigation and a Grand Jury. Neither would have happened without an outcry.

Zimmerman could be innocent. He should be given a fair trial and his day in court. That law also sounds like a bad one.

Just saw two witnesses tell Anderson Cooper that Zimmerman was not acting in self defense. Also the Sanford Sheriff has recently admitted that it sounds like Zimmerman made a racial crack before chasing down and shooting the kid.
What did I say about me being right about these things ?

I am in complete agreement with you.....Zimmerman said the kid tried to get the gun away from him. If Zimmerman pulled the gun on the kid, the kid was probably scared to death, and charged him in his own Self Defense.......
