The other story I saw didn't print what he said but said it was definitely racist. You probably arn't seeing the actual tweet he got into trouble for.
edit: This story said his tweets "started" with that comment.

He was drunk and his twitter feed was full of profanity and racist attacks on people who took offense at his initial comment.
He also quickly realized he'd gone over the line and backtracked trying to say his account had been hacked and these weren't his views.
I agree, though, that you hear nearly as bad comments at pretty much every sporting event.
Someone saved his twitter feed.

Uh why wouldn't he? It is pretty clear from his tweets he was publically racially abusing Muamba. If that's a crime he's guilty. No two ways about it.

I'm not saying the law is a good law. I was just responding to Rakhir saying it was stupid to plead guilty.
Presumably this has all already been litigated. Saying it violates his rights is going to be a dead end if the courts have already determined it doesn't violate his rights. Better to plead guilty and act contrite and hope the judge is more lenient on you because you show you feel sorry about it.
