i got the galaxy tab for free from google last year and never really came up with a use for it. so i loaded it up with toddler games and movies for my son. my wife got me the fire specifically as an ereader for our trip and for my weekly business trips. i just have a hard time giving up the android device mentality that i should be able to do what i want with it instead of what the manufacturer wants me to do.

The only way an ereader flies for me is with an e-ink screen. I understand ereaders and I understand tablets but hybrids seem utterly nonsensical to me.

Well, that's a concern for me. I was considering doing a week's vacation in Tuscany in September. It's a cooking vacation which is why Tuscany specifically has been selected. Is it that bad? (Never been to Italy)
I was stationed in Tuscany at a small base called Camp Darby. It is near Pisa. It's pretty awesome. Florence is also located in Tuscany. I traveled all over Italy and Florence was my favorite city. If I ever return I'll probably do a day trip and catch up on all the sites around Rome but as far as I'm concerned the perfect vacation would be two weeks in Florence.

Florence is a great city but you can't go during tourist season. Same with venice. It's just awful.

I read books on my phone.
Come to think of it I do everything you can do on a tablet on my phone. Can't wait to upgrade to a bigger screen phone later this year.
