It would be like Nazi Germany winning World War Part 2!

I think the best treatment was in Harry Turtledove's Southern Victory series. The Confederacy was far more prosperous than it became in our timeline, whereas the USA became less prosperous, less confident and much more regimented and bureacratic. The USA took the side of Germany in the first world war to get revenge on the British and French for supporting the South.

The south should have freed the slaves and then declared succession. Without the moral high ground support for the war would have collapsed entirely in the north.

Well a large portion of the north's push for war was the business owners that couldn't compete against the prices of goods from the south.
While a large portion of southerners knew slavery was wrong, they continued on with it.
The reality is that there were large numbers of people that disliked slavery and those that didn't care, in both the north and the south.
This just makes Lincoln's accomplishments more amazing in my eyes.

The Civil War was not about slavery, it was about states rights.
Slavery was a part of that issue but the issue was larger than just slavery.
