I don't think there will be a full, nation-wide every brown vs every white race war.

I do think it's very possible for this type of thing in some of the larger urban areas, but not like a well coordinated "army v army" show.

If anything I can see a war between the Liberals and conservatives.

I would say Obama has a lot to do with it. I havent followed the Trayvon Martin case, but I did follow the events that led up to the beer summit. The president jumped to the wrong conclusion, implying that race was a factor in the officers' actions.

The african american community looks to the president as a role model. When he rushes to judgement - right or wrong - they follow his lead. He has rushed to judgement twice now. He was wrong the first time. I dont yet know if he will be proven right this time around, but in the situation he finds himself in, rushing to judgement is the worst thing he could do.

Obama didn't mess up on the Gates situation, Gates was arrested after he had proven to the officer that it was his house. The cop then arrested him for "disorderly conduct" (whatever the hell that is) on Gate's own front porch.

It was a stupid thing to do, and the charges were dropped. The cop got pissed because Gates treated him exactly like the cop was treating Gates...with utter contempt. Cops should get used to that, it's a first amendment right after all. Was it racially motivated? Who knows? I doubt a famous millionaire white professor would have been arrested under the same circumstances however. Just my opinion.

Obama didn't mess up in the current situation. A young black man was killed for being black. That's what it breaks down to. That idiot would have never followed a white kid in the same situation, would have never confronted them, no one would have died. I know some people will always argue that this isn't true, but they are lying to themselves. Martin died because he was black, it happens a lot in this country. Making a comment like the one Obama made is only "divisive" if you twist what he said into the worst possible connotation and misrepresent the spirit in which it was said. He is a man, a black man, and he has ever right, even an obligation, to comment on such obvious cases of stupidity and injustice.

It's not just a black thing, though they do bear the brunt of it. Being poor and shabby and white is pretty bad in some areas as well. And hell, don't even think of having a deep tan and wearing a turban. But institutionalized racial profiling by police (and police wanna be's) isn't conjecture of theory....it's an openly defended action, and blacks are party to that profiling.

That said, there isn't going to be a race war. People of all races tend to want the same things. To be left the hell alone, for their kids to grow up and have good lives, better lives than their parents. Justice before the law, fairness in their transactions with other. It's not a racial trait, it's a human one.

There may well be some protests, even some riots. People get pissed and feel they have no justice and no fairness, some of them are going to lash out. Many "pundits" on both sides of the situation are going to scream bloody murder (some are being accurate with that phrase btw)....but more to enhance their own status than to help with the problem.

If there is ever armed insurrection in the US, it wont be racially based, it will be socio-economically based.
