My landlord contacted me over a pot odor |
She attacked, I attacked back. I'm not crying just because she lost. She had ample opportunity to deal directly with me, instead she went over my head. I have a lot to lose if I lose this apartment so I dealt with her action with my own. Decisively.
I didn't break up her family, ICE did. I don't even know if she's deported. She could very well be on a break from her man. For all I know, one of those kids is his and they split. It would explain his sourness. And hell, thinking about it, most of the movies he brought were geared towards kids anyway.
Why do you guys hate law and order anyway? I did my civic duty.
Oh gosh. Scorn. On the Outpost. Please, not that!

Yes obeying the law seems to be your top priority.
It's pretty apparent you don't have children, but hey you taught them a lesson right? You did an honorable thing right?

Game theory suggests that escalation is not a good move.
The illegal neighbor started it but Altra escalated.
It is more likely to turn out bad for Altra than good.

Why didn't they come and talk to him about the pot odor before they tried to have him evicted by ratting to the landlord (who unknowingly to them so happened to be his friend -- PLAN BACKFIRED)

Let's not forget that if his landlord wasn't also someone who he knew he would've been:
1) Evicted and lost a month's rent
2) Perhaps had the police called on him
Yet, like a perfect tale of good trumps evil, the landlord was his hidden ace and with great vengeful fate he was able to avenge this attack on his personal livelihood through use of law!

Dealing directly with fellow tenants, especially druggies, is generally not a good idea. You have absolutely no idea what the reaction is going to be and you can end up in a physical fight.
It is also pointless as I've yet to meet the druggie who said "Oops, my bad, I'll stop smoking immediately, sorry about that" The general reaction is profanity-laced with no change in behavior.
Dealing with problem tenants (of which you are one) is part of the landlord's job, so they were correct in going to the landlord. I expect she was just trying to protect her kids.
