This IS going to trail, so this tells me that the special prosecutor is confident in the evidence they have against Zimmerman.

How does it go to trial without a Grand Jury? I think it's fundamental American right to have a Grand Jury to determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial. Without a GJ, there is no trial.

Only first degree murder cases require the use of a grand jury per Florida law. I don't think they were ever considering charging him with first degree murder, so this doesn't mean he won't be charged.

Really? That's pretty damn weird. In NYC, every felony charge requires a Grand Jury.

You can call a grand jury in Florida for other charges. It is more likely the grand jury was called by the previous prosecutor and the current one didn't have the case ready to bring it in time before the grand jury is discharged. Much to do about nothing.

Yeah, you don't need a grand jury...if prosecutors have enough evidence they take it to a judge and if the judge agrees, they go right to court.
