I was surfing these very boards before work, slurping coffee, when someone posted that something happened in New York. I turned on the TV and watched the second "something happen." Other people remember where they were when JFK was shot, or Reagan. For eternity, I will remember the MT board as "where I was" on this fateful date.

That is one day I shall never forget.
I got into work as normal and I was working for tech support at the time. I remember just surfing the web while waiting on phone calls and went to the BBC website to see what had happened. This was right after the first reports of the first plane, then the second plane crashed onto tower two. They kept on saying that it was the first plane but shown from a different angle. I thought at the time that is was just a tragic accident because maybe a pilot of a commercial flight would be flying near there and skyscrapers are pretty high anyway.
When the report of the second plane was confirmed I stopped what I was doing to show people around the office, just to see if I was getting the news wrong.
I remember thinking the first thing to do was to call a very close friend in America and tell her what was happening, but it never occured to me that she would still be in bed, I just called her on the mobile. She woke up and switched the television on and knew what was going on right away and said there will be hell to pay.
We have programme over here all about it right now and I am still silenced by the images and footage.

I read this earlier and wanted to comment. I was living in New York at the time, but a good 40 miles from where the devastating events of 10 years ago took place. I had just been in the Twin Towers not long before with a group of friends. We went to the top at nite and had panoramic views of NY City's lights and life.

I listened to a program on Saturday that was broadcast from NYC. The host interviewed families who lost loved ones on that day as well as some that survived. I almost turned it off, but I am glad I didn't. It made me realize once again, the fragility of life.

How we really go about our lives and most of us taking so much for granted...myself included.

Give thanks because there is much to be grateful for...Truly...

i was in school (class of '03) and they turned on the tv for the morning announcements and we see planes running into buildings and the buildings collapsing. we all thought it was a movie or something and were like woah cool... then after a moment of watching we were like woah wtf?!?! bunch of kids left campus... bunch of seniors went straight to the army recruiters office.... then they turned the tv's off and had to turn them back on kuz the remaining kids were gonna riot if they didn't

I was sitting in MEPS waiting to get the physical before joinging the military. Everything prettymuch stopped and someone flipped on the tv. We were sent home as all the federal buildings were being evacuated.

Really happy that the 10th anniversary is over with so we an get onto waiting for the 20th. Hopefully next year they don't make as big a deal out of it, cause man... so tired of it.

Im pretty sure I had just woken up or something and came to the forums to troll before jumping in game and saw a thread like "check out the news"... flipped on the news and watched it all unfold from after the first plane hit till everyone was covered in ash.
