It's been many, many years, but if I remember my molecular biology properly what's actually happening when it comes to cancer is this. Each cell has genes which ordinarily suppress unwanted, willy-nilly replicative activity through the actions of the proteins these genes produce. (No, I can't remember the technical names of these.) Anyhow, these genes are 'garbled' by environmental toxins over the years, or are missing, or never were quite right to start with, and then all hell breaks loose. Depending on the aggressiveness of the cancer (more aggressive cancers do this faster, of course) the cells keeps cycling though what is referred to as "G1" phase of cell development and does not spend nearly as much time as they should in a resting phase... which is to say, they keep replicating, and in this case, they should not.
I generally feel better when operating in 'virindi mode' for such things.... yes. I'll try to hold this mode if I can. The funeral is at 11am today.
