I need to consolidate all the offers here before I put up a poll for us to vote on.

For me to include your poll in the forum, you need to:

A) Have already established forums, with a link for us to view.

B) Declare your philosophy in terms of moderation/bannings/behavior

C) Keep the bullshit spam to a minimum. Little/no advertisements, as well as a reign on eyesores like huge fucking signatures/gifs/spam pictures in people's Icons. Let's keep it classy people.

My philosophy is that for better or for worse, we're all adults here. I'm not going to moderate the boards at all aside from people posting completely obscene and vulgar things (I'd rather it not turn into a porn pic post), and I'll be making sure that the boards don't get destroyed by link spammers. It would in general just be a continuation of what VN already is - if it's not broken, don't fix it. That being said, if there were anything the community would really like to see, I'd be totally down to make sure it got in, including any highly requested custom plugins (I'm a software engineer by trade). I'll also continue to cover the cost of keeping everything running.


I'd also be 100% willing to give trusted members of the community full mod/admin access.

That is the default color scheme / theme, but I can add others if people find they don't like the black.
I add new forums whenever there is interest and would be open to requests if people had specific forums they wanted (would most likely put most things like that to a vote).

We have a rules post that is global so you can always see it at the top of the forums, the rules we have are as follows.

- Posting of viruses / trojans / rootkits or any type of malicious code (Zero tolerance insta-ban)
- Attempting in any way to disrupt forums access be it through injection, DDos etc. (Zero tolerance insta-ban)
- Posting any kind of child pornography (Zero tolerance insta-ban)
- Real life doxxing of people (This is on a per case basis, if we see people being complete assholes trying to ruin people's lives you can expect to get your shit deleted)
- All posts that are not work safe SHOULD be labeled as such - [NSFW] (we won't necessarily ban for this but it's encouraged as common courtesy)

Realistically, I'd be more lax than VNT is, I'd prefer not to have to moderate shit if I can help it as I have a life outside of the internets. Banning would be reserved mostly for special cases where people go out of their way to break the above rules or to really obstruct the use of the forums. I'd make a spam thread so people can spam the fuck out of it and would never delete it, any other spam threads may/may not be locked (largely on a per case basis, would only be if someone was being an idiot and shitting up the forums), threads with a billion lines of spam would most likely just be edited.

I would most likely make well respected, level-headed and well known VNT members moderators, preferably from a diverse set of guilds, off the top of my head I would make Kewt, Ares, Leather, Mass and UD mods (if they were interested of course). I would add more if need be and am open to suggestions of good people.

People like Gandalf, Simon and Heathor would be tolerated and welcomed and most likely never banned, no matter how much they "annoy" people unless they broke the aforementioned rules up top.

There would be a thread specifically for spam and I can/will come up with ridiculous post count titles and special titles depending on what people want.

I'm very active on the forums and can moderate them well, I also have friends who are on vent with me every day who can moderate shit and have contact with me out of the internet so if anything goes down (the server has had like 99% uptime) I would be able to get to it asap.

I check that shit daily.

I don't care if people post Porn, the only requirement I ask is that if shit is not work safe it be labeled appropriately, obviously kiddie porn and bestiality and shit would be removed, anything that is not extremely offensive would be fine.

There are no ads on the site, never will be, I'm not a broke faggot and don't need to make money off forums.

I could limit any other technical aspect of the forums within reason.

b) Porn? No go. Just can't be there for those who like to browse at work. Bad language? Filter it or Leave. That being said, any real life threats will be handled by my manservant. Ongoing harassment can be reported to the moderators and if it becomes serious a poll can be made to vote on banning users. Moderators would still hold the final veto power but the results of the poll would be respected, as if handed down from Aphrodite's eternally cherry butt hole itself. As for moderation I feel that several well respected people known to be objective and sensible could easily be handed modship. Community led votes could be held to determine modship, if a popular enough choice.

c) Spam mostly takes care of itself with this one. Social standing and bragging rights on this site come from karma not post count - and karma comes from up votes from other users. Ads, macros, porn, spam will all result in bans. (A spam specific thread would be fine).

I don't think Reddit should be a main community for posting, we should keep forums BUT I think we should be using forums AND reddit IMO, because reddit has nice benefits but also has a lot of drawbacks.

I agree. Reddit would not serve as a replacement for VN. With the voting system and the comment structure they use, it would be a very different environment from here. I am not saying it would be all bad, but I can see it now: Two people having an argument, one gets butthurt, creates tons of accounts, and proceeds to down vote the 2nd party to oblivion. It won't work.
