I'd love to see the link that states these are the most recommended headphones on the market, from an actual respected review site or syndicate, not what a bunch of consumers say.

Aren't consumers the ones recommending them?
I trust consumer reviews over review sites any day and Head-Fi is the "go to" site for headphones and they are ranked #2 with the #1 costing $999.99, so that should be enough right there.

http://www.head-fi.org/products/category/headphones That list should explain it well enough. The #2 pair (ATH-M50's) cost $130, the #1 cost $999, and the #3 cost $500.That should establish them as the best headphones on the market imo, especially considering bang for your buck.

I guess for the most affordable to the average consumer, yes, the best bang for your buck, no quality headset period should have a microphone attached as well, although Logitech has made some recent improvements regarding soundcard issues with microphones attached to a headset.
These aren't the best overall, which is what I thought you were implying, because any Sennheiser pair over $300 will kill these on every level.
Head-fi is also a crock review website, they have been offering ring around the rosie reviews on most gaming/entertainment headsets for quite some time.

Going off of user reviews these average a 5/5 for every category except soundstage.
I am not quite sure how spending twice the amount on a pair of Sennheisers is going to get you past 5/5.
The Sennheisers may sound slightly better, but the price point does not justify it. This is why I said they are the most recommended headphones on the market, I never stated they are the best headphones ever made.
Use some logic nick arweenie.
