There is not a more recommended brand than the Audio Technica ATH-M50's. They are over the ear and VERY comfortable.

For reference, here is the Amazon page with amazing reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B000ULAP4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333642080&sr=8-1

Here is Dr. Dre rocking them over his shitty ass own brand (alright this was probably before his were released but my point stands):

I bought a pair of Beats on Black Friday, returned them a week later and ordered these on Amazon, and could not have been happier.

They are the greatest sounding pair of headphones I have ever owned, and for only $130 (the price when I bought them).

Great isolation, deep bass (not over the top like some new generation headphones), awesome range, and just overall amazing sound quality. My only complaint is a little lack of sound stage but that is not really important for headphones imo.

I know I have seen people asking about headphones here in the past, so I thought I would give my input.

If you get these YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. They are often back ordered because they are so popular.

In the ear can never produce the sound quality that these can. I have tried all sorts of in ear, Sennheiser, Sony, etc.

Obviously these aren't ideal for running or anything, but for studying and doing work they are absolutely amazing. I wear them at least a few hours a day.

A decent pair of headphones is cheaper than a decent pair of speakers.

It's also more apartment friendly.

Stupid statement is stupid. You get 10x the sound quality for 1/2 the price you would if you bought desktop speakers.

On top of that, the isolation they provide allows you to listen to any music you want when in public areas, without disturbing anyone.

Why listen to music on anything less than the best?

I disagree. The ATH-M50's are the most recommended headphones on the market.

Looks like you over paid, they are $130 on Amazon with only decent reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-HDJ-1000-DJ-Headphones/dp/B0002DV7Z2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333642835&sr=8-1
