Best way to level solo is a combination of grinding mobs in the XP bonus areas and Catacombs quests every couple levels. If you're starting from scratch I'd also add in some Aurulite or Seal farming for gear, especially on the more gear dependant melee classes. Some classes may just do better grinding the whole way(ie. archers) but the quests are good for classes that don't do as well at chain pulling yellow/oj mobs. Also, the quests you get inside the border keeps(think in the main city too) are very easy and have a large XP return, most of them are just delivery or talk to NPC quests.

Oh yeah, if you can find a list of bounty drops they are an excellent XP return as well, particularily after level 40. Below 40 you level so fast it's almost a waste of time.

This. The catacombs quests rock from 15 or so, and by the time you end up in Inconnu Crypt you're ready for Deadlands in the 20's, and then progress through Lower Crypt, Underground Forest, etc. By the time you're in your 40's in UF the quests are almost all fast and easy, and return 2-6 billion exp. There's enough to keep you busy, and imo it beats the hell out of task dungeons.

Kill people in BGs.

It's not the destination, it's the journey.
