If you know all 3 realms and the games classes pretty decently, leveling is so easy nowadays even solo it's kind of laughable to imagine how tough it was in comparison to when the game first came out.

I'd mix and match depending on which realm I was playing as there are level-gaps where doing a task dungeon would be faster then trying to find worthwhile mobs (that aren't super out of the way) to hunt.

For instance in Midgard whenever I'm leveling a new toon around level 17ish I always hit those tree mobs in Myrkwood next to the shore of the lake or whatever near Gna Faste/Galpen. They're weak, drop a ton of named loot (which sells nicely to vendors or you can salvage if you're leveling it up), and there's 2-3 spawns of them that can get you to 24 pretty quickly.

In Albion I live at Grove Nymphs till around 20, in Hib I kill those Bubble mobs to the far south-west of the starter town around level 18ish-22ish, etc.

I actually *never* leveled in Cursed Forest or Vanern Swamp in all my DAoC playing time because they are so far out of the way and the mobs mostly seemed to be too tough to be worthwhile xp-camps. (At least Lyonesse had Pygmies and those ghost-dogs that dropped kill-task heads near the entrance of the zone).

Oh Lyonesse also had those Lich mobs that would die in 1-2 casts if you got a single crit and they always conned orange. Plus they dropped xp-turn in items and lots of salvage things...

Got me wondering if Mid and Hib had suitable comparison mobs in their higher-end zones.

Best way to level solo is a combination of grinding mobs in the XP bonus areas and Catacombs quests every couple levels. If you're starting from scratch I'd also add in some Aurulite or Seal farming for gear, especially on the more gear dependant melee classes. Some classes may just do better grinding the whole way(ie. archers) but the quests are good for classes that don't do as well at chain pulling yellow/oj mobs. Also, the quests you get inside the border keeps(think in the main city too) are very easy and have a large XP return, most of them are just delivery or talk to NPC quests.

Oh yeah, if you can find a list of bounty drops they are an excellent XP return as well, particularily after level 40. Below 40 you level so fast it's almost a waste of time.

When leveling up a new toon solo i do several kind of activity.

1. I play through the complete tutorial, coz of the equip you get there.
2. I do the Saving Zarees Quest for the nice hat thingi
3. I go for the first Catacombs zone do the Quests and Killtasks there.
4. After that i go for TD and next Cata Zone/Freeland
5. after that mixed... some td/freeland for 2-3 levels, then back into Catacombs to the zone for your levelrange, gather the quests, do them and repeat 5.
6. doing epic and champquests as far as i can get
7. doing some bg's for ck raid or to get some rp's for RA's to level easier.

Thats the whole bunch. There isn't pure grinding, there is always something to see due to changing zones, no boredom and lots of fun in the bg's.

Kind Regards
